Under the tree

As I wrote here before, I had been working on two new paintings. I think I have completed one of them. Its name is 'under the tree'. I used one of my wife's photos I took in West Lafayette for this painting. I just showed it to her. She liked it. So, I am sharing it with you. (again, the quality of the photos is not good enough :)

Here is a close-up:

Anger

Can you paint anger?
I was so angry. I asked myself 'can you paint anger?'

Red (sold)

I wanted to paint a room in details with furniture and with a large window. It was going to be a sunset. Then... While I was working on the sunset and all the colors, I loved it. Gradually, it became a new scene.

Trees in the winter (sold)

Trees in the winter are still alive. They might carry some ice and they might be without leaves. This painting depicts a scene from my window last winter. The weather was colorless -- grey. There was ice here and there on the ground. The trees were 'naked' or, perhaps, they were showing their 'real face'. Interestingly, there were still leaves on the ground.
(In passim, I remember a disagreement among my labmates and me on whether black and white are colors or not. Of course, I was saying they are not colors :))

Field

Here, mainly, I wanted to work on how to paint clouds, really large clouds. To give that impression, I needed to have some depth. I gave it by painting a large field underneath the clouds. I think I succeeded. But I didn't want to leave the painting 'empty'. So, I put several trees here and there. Of them, two are in the front. There is a pine-like tree that I like very much. It is not very tall but its top is unusually slanted. So, I painted one of the trees in the front (as if) leans toward the other one. I leave the rest to your imagination :)

Serenity

I have finished working on this painting recently. It took me a while to come up with an idea. I started painting something else -- I don't remember right now. Its name came from -- yes, it echoes serenity but -- a movie called "Serenity", a continuation of a tv series, "Firefly". After I finished watching the series and the movie, I thought about the concept of serenity and came up with this painting. The painting and the movie do not have anything in common, except the name. Enjoy!
